About Society

Bengali Education Society was registered on 24th January 1938 under Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860. The principal aim of the Society was
advancement of education in all aspects particularly among children of Bengali residents of then Bombay and its suburbs for the purpose to start, conduct,
supervise or take over any educational, physical training or other institution or institutions.

Shri Birendra Nath Sen and his wife Smt. Sisirkana Sen the founding parents of Bengali School made a humble beginning with a class constituting six children (two of them were their own sons) in a rented room of Haroon building at Parel in the year 1933. After six years the School was shifted to new premises at Morebaug road, Dadar.

The first three Trustees of the Society elected by the First Managing Committee were:

Successive Managing Committees

Successive Managing Committees through inception of School at Morebaug Road (S. S. Wagh Marg) premises, looked after the smooth and orderly functioning of School. The School went from strength to strength in development of new buildings with extensions in existing building as the number of students multiplied. New facilities were added and old facilities were upgraded in tune with the need of times and also requirements of Education Department, State of Maharashtra.

Advisory Council

Advisory Council consists of eminent personalities from field of education to advise Managing committee on matters relating to administration and other education related issues.
Members are:

1) Smt.Basanti Roy, Former Divisional Secretary, Maharashtra Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Mumbai Divisional Board.
2) Shri Asok Basak, Former Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department, Government of Maharashtra

Trustees

Trustees are officiating in the Society in accordance with the Society Memorandum of Association and Bye-Laws. They attend the monthly Managing Committee meetings, lend their valuable advices and guidance and also officiate as Chairman of Sub-Committees as and when necessary. The tenure of the trustees is for a period of nine years.

Managing Committee

Managing Committee comprises of eight elected members, who are officiating in accordance with the Memorandum of Association and Bye-Laws. They are carrying out the day to day administration of School and executing various infrastructure and educational projects, carrying out maintenance and services of School premises, as well as facilitating activities relating to cultural and sports. The terms of the members are for the period 2012 – 2014.

President

Mr. Champak Dastidar is officiating as President (not a member of MC ) and carrying out his duties for orderly conduct of AGM and EGM of the Society.
